AASL collaborates with the following organizations:
ASCD Whole Child
ASCD has launched Whole Child to encourage schools and communities to work together to ensure that each student has access to a challenging curriculum in a healthy and supportive climate.
Jumpstart's Read for the Record
Jumpstart's Read for the Record Campaign, presented in partnership with Pearson, is Jumpstart's campaign to bring children and adults together to read the same book, on the same day, in homes and communities all over the world. The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats is the official 2010 book to be read on Thursday, October 7.
Read for the Record together with We Give Books has made it possible to read The Snowy Day for free, online at www.wegivebooks.org.
NEA's Read Across America
The National Education Association's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss.
Million Minute Family Challenge
The Million Minute Family Challenge is a nationwide effort to encourage families and friends to play board games together and accumulate a total of one million minutes of game play from September through December. Any group from families to neighbors, libraries, schools, church groups and more can join. Participation is easy! Each group is asked to commit to at least 20 minutes of game play sometime between September and December and to go to www.millionminute.com
to log the minutes. All groups receive an organizer kit in the mail and the first 1,000 AASL members will receive a free board game to get them started.
The website is filled with game ideas, tips for planning a game event, benefits and expert advice on board games, lesson plans, press materials, posters, suggestions on using games for fundraisers and so much more. To get the full scope of the Million Minute Family Challenge and join, visit www.millionminute.com.
SchoolTube.com is the nation's largest K-12 moderated video sharing website that provides students and educators with a safe and free video sharing website. In the 21st century, everyone should be afforded the opportunity to see what is happening in their community and SchoolTube offers schools a chance to do just that with categories to showcase news, contemporary issues, sports, and the performing arts.
